Julio Rivera Contreras has extensive experience in mine planning and engineering, currently serving as the leader of short-term mine planning, mineral control, and geomensura at BHP's Minera Escondida since April 2012. Previous roles at Minera Escondida include medium-term mine planning and production scheduling. Before joining BHP, Julio worked at Teck Quebrada Blanca as a Senior Planning and Development Engineer, focusing on long-term mine planning and optimization. Additional experience includes positions at BHP Billiton and RMD Ingenieria as a Mine Planning Specialist and Project Engineer, respectively. Julio holds a Diploma in Mine Planning Engineering from Universidad de Chile and a Civil Mining Engineering degree from Universidad de La Serena.
