Kara Walsh

Managing Director, Strategic Programs at BGSF

Kara Walsh, MSW, has a strong background in strategic programs, communications, and event management. Kara currently works as the Managing Director of Strategic Programs at BGSF, where they drive sales initiatives and enhances organization growth. Prior to this, they served as a Media, Event & Experience Strategist at The Kind Company in 2022. From 2018 to 2022, Kara worked at Asurion, first as Director of Communications, leading internal strategic communications and events for multiple business units, and later as Senior Manager of Global Product Development Communications, establishing communication strategies and driving change management campaigns. Before Asurion, they held roles at Auburn Pharmaceutical as a Corporate Communications Manager and Marketing Coordinator, where they developed communication strategies, built corporate social responsibility programs, and managed internal and external communications. Kara also has experience in documentary filmmaking as a Documentary Filmmaker at Bike Love Documentary. Kara began their career as an MSW Intern at the Jewish Federation of Portland and later worked as a Program Coordinator at Raphael House of Portland, managing program operations and participant experiences. In 2008, Kara served as an International Group Leader for World Learning, coordinating a theatre arts program in Spain. Kara started their career as a Community Impact and Storytelling Intern at A New Way of Life Reentry Project and a Spanish Tutor at Whittier College.

Kara (Minnehan) Walsh, MSW, holds a Masters in Social Work degree with a focus on Organizational Leadership from Portland State University, which they completed between 2012 and 2013. Kara also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Social Work (BSW) and Public Policy in Global Context (Self-Designed) from Whittier College, graduating in 2007. In 2005, Kara studied Spanish Language and Literature at Universitat de Barcelona. Their educational journey began at Newton North High School, where they received their High School Diploma in 2003.
