J. Elisha Burke serves as the Transitional Pastor at Bethlehem Baptist Church since June 2022 and has held the position of Director for Health, Men & Social Justice with the Baptist General Convention of Virginia since 2005, leading initiatives across over 900 member churches. Burke's experience includes various interim pastor roles, notably at Chicago Avenue Baptist Church, New Light Baptist Church, and Westwood Baptist Church, alongside serving as Chief Operating Officer at Labyrinth Group Global LLC from 2008 to 2013. Additionally, Burke acted as a Community Research Liaison at Virginia Commonwealth University and was involved with the American Cancer Society as a consultant focused on health disparities concerning African American men. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Ministry and a Master of Divinity from Virginia Union University and a Bachelor of Science in Social Sciences from Elizabeth City State University.
