Alex New has a diverse work experience spanning across multiple roles and industries. Starting in 1995, Alex worked as an Electronic Engineer at Millstrong Engineering Ltd before transitioning to a Technical Editor role at Findlay Media in 1997. In 1999, Alex joined Virgin Atlantic Airways and held various positions such as Webmaster and Technical Architect, specializing in Web Technologies and Integration. Continuing their career progression, Alex moved on to the Office for National Statistics as a Solution Architect from 2014 to 2016. Following this, Alex joined Specsavers as a Digital Architect, contributing until 2020. In 2020, Alex joined System1Group as a Solution Architect, before moving on to Berry Bros. & Rudd in 2021 as a Principal Solutions Architect.

Alex New attended the University of Portsmouth from 1991 to 1995, where they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Electronic Engineering.
