Birgitte Sørheim

Marketing Director Salmon at Benchmark

Birgitte Sørheim has extensive experience in various roles within the seafood industry. Birgitte has served as a member of the committee of the aquaculture industry at the Norwegian Seafood Association since 2023. Prior to that, they were the Chairperson of the Board at Hardanger Akvasenter AS and also served as a Board Member at the same company. Birgitte has also held positions at Benchmark Holdings plc as the Marketing Director for Salmon and later as the Marketing Director for Benchmark Genetics. Birgitte has also worked at Fana Sparebank as a Member of the General Assembly. Before that, Birgitte was the Marketing Director at Frende Forsikring, where they were responsible for the Marketing and Communications department. Earlier in their career, they held roles at Fish Pool ASA, Spon Fish ASA, Bergen Energi A/S, Marine Harvest, and Hydro Seafood ASA, mainly in marketing and sales management positions.

Birgitte Sørheim's education history begins in 1988 when they enrolled at the Western Norway University of Applied Sciences. Birgitte pursued a Bachelor's degree in Aquaculture Engineering and completed their studies in 1991.

In 1996, Birgitte attended AFF, where they participated in a Leadership training program specifically designed for young leaders. Birgitte completed the program in 1997, expanding their knowledge in Organizational Leadership.

Ten years later, in 2004, Birgitte decided to further their education and enrolled at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Birgitte pursued an MBA degree with a specialization in Brand Management, completing the program in 2006.

In 2019, Birgitte joined the BI Norwegian Business School for a Master's program. Their area of focus was PR Management and Strategic Communication, and they successfully completed the program in 2020.

Looking ahead, in 2023, Birgitte plans to enroll in a course at NCE Seafood Innovation, where they intend to further their knowledge in Sustainability Studies, specifically in the area of Circular Economy. The end year for this course is unspecified.
