Michelle Ellis began their work experience in 2010 as an Agile Engineer Intern at Xtreme Labs. Michelle then became a Software Developer Intern at Microsoft in the same year. In 2011, they joined Pivotal Labs as an Agile Engineer and stayed in that role until 2015. From 2015 to 2016, Michelle worked as a Software Developer at Boltmade, where they gained experience in iOS development and client relationship management. In 2016, they were acquired by Shopify and took on the role of Senior Software Developer. After 1.5 years, Michelle transitioned into a Front-End Development role within the Shopify Plus organization, where they are currently focused on building solutions for the company's largest revenue-generating merchants. In 2021, they joined Beeper as an iOS Engineer, and in 2022, they were promoted to the position of iOS Engineering Lead.

Michelle Ellis attended Haliburton Highlands Secondary School for an unspecified period of time. Michelle then pursued a Bachelor of Computer Science degree in the field of Computer Science at the University of Waterloo from 2006 to 2011.
