Taha Jiwaji has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Taha is the Founder & CEO of Beem, a company that provides an integrated communications and financial services platform with the largest mobile network reach in Africa. Taha has a vision of using mobile technology to drive growth and commerce in Africa.
In 2017, Taha became a Member of The Africa List, an organization focused on empowering businesses in Africa. Taha also served as the Country Lead at Code For Africa, where they set up and led a team to build data-driven tools and promote data Journalism.
Taha co-founded KINU in 2012, Tanzania's first private tech hub. Taha organized grassroots community-driven events and led workshops to raise awareness and build capacity for young technology companies.
Their earlier experiences include working at Capgemini as a Consultant, where they redesigned a large insurance claims system, and at CampuSMS, a web startup connecting university students and community business owners through text messaging. Taha also worked as a Project Manager at Engineers Without Borders, where they directed teams to design and implement sustainable water systems in rural Honduras. Additionally, Taha worked as an Educational Technology Consultant, proposing and implementing emerging technology solutions for language education.
Taha has also interned at SEI Investments and Lutron Electronics in the technology field.
Taha Jiwaji pursued their education starting from primary school all the way through high school at The International School of Tanganyika, where they studied a variety of subjects. After completing their secondary education in 2002, they went on to attend The International School Bangalore for two years, where they obtained an IB Diploma. Taha then continued their academic journey at Lafayette College from 2004 to 2008, earning a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering as well as a Bachelor of Arts (AB) degree in Economics & Business.
