Melanie Batenchuk has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Melanie began their career as a Government Relations Staff Assistant at SIFMA, where they provided support to lobbyists and assisted in preparing the CEO for congressional hearings. Melanie then joined the American International Automobile Dealers Association (AIADA) and held the positions of Coordinator for Government Relations and Grassroots and later Manager for Grassroots and Industry Outreach. In these roles, they developed relationships between auto dealers and their members of Congress and lobbied on legislation affecting international auto dealers.
In 2010, Melanie worked as an Account Supervisor at New Media Strategies (now MXM) for the Dodge account. Melanie then became a Board Director at Women in Government Relations, where they contributed to the strategic vision of the organization and led the development of refreshed branding.
Melanie's passion for cars led their to found Be Car Chic in 2009, a blog that shares industry news and automotive advice. Melanie served as the Founder and Publisher until 2017. During this time, they also worked as a Contributing Writer for CARFAX, writing in-depth car reviews.
From 2012 to 2017, Melanie held various roles at the Washington Automotive Press Association (WAPA), including President Emeritus and Board Director. Melanie revitalized the association as President, overseeing its transformation.
In 2014, Melanie joined Scope Group as the Chief of Operations and Brand Management. Melanie worked closely with the CEO to enhance the company's brand presence and built a trusted brand within the cybersecurity and information security community.
Most recently, Melanie joined Beekeeper Group in 2011 and currently holds the position of Vice President. In this role, they provide digital strategy and communications services to public affairs clients, manages client relationships, and helps develop junior team members.
Additionally, starting in 2022, Melanie is the Chief of Staff and VP of Client Accounts at The Miner Agency.
Melanie Batenchuk completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Interpersonal & Organizational Communications at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that, they attended Virginia Tech from 2001 to 2003, where they studied Business and Communications, but did not obtain a degree. In addition to their formal education, Melanie also obtained a certification in Front-end web development from General Assembly in June 2015.
