Kimberly Secrest has a diverse work experience spanning multiple school districts. Kimberly began their career in 2000 at the Hillsboro School District as an Educator, where they worked until 2006. In 2009, they joined the Hillsboro School District again, this time as a Substitute Teacher, and continued in this role until 2019. In 2010, they also worked as a Substitute Teacher at the Beaverton School District. From 2014 to 2020, they worked as a Jeweler at Premier Designs.

Kimberly Secrest obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Studies, with a focus on Hispanic Studies, from Oregon State University. Kimberly attended this institution from 1993 to 1998. Later on, they pursued further education at Pacific University, where they completed a Master of Arts in Teaching degree with a specialization in Early Childhood/Elementary Education, during the academic year 1999-2000.
