Michelle Thierry began their professional career in 1978 as a Benefit Program Supervisor at the Department of Social Services. Michelle held this position until September 2007. In 2006, they transitioned to become the Director of Christian Education at Antioch Baptist Church. Michelle remained in this role until they joined the Sunday School Publishing Board in 2010 as a Children's Curriculum Writer.

Michelle Thierry attended Bluefield University from 1994 to 1996, where they studied Organizational Management. Michelle then went on to attend Virginia Union University from 2007 to 2010, earning a Master of Divinity (MDiv) degree with a focus on Theology & Christian education.
