Elbert Chiang

Vice President, Head, Intellectual Property at Beam

Elbert Chiang began their work experience in 2006 as a Patent Agent/Patent Clerk at Thompson Coburn LLP. In 2007, they moved to Edwards Wildman Palmer LLP, where they served as a Patent Agent for six years. In 2013, Chiang joined Saul Ewing LLP as a Patent Agent until 2016, when they transitioned to Greenberg Traurig, LLP as a Patent Attorney. In 2018, they joined Beam Therapeutics as a Senior Director, Intellectual Property, and currently holds the position of Vice President, Head, Intellectual Property.

Elbert Chiang attended Memphis University School from 1990 to 1993, where they completed their high school education. Elbert then attended Vanderbilt University from 1993 to 1997, earning a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Molecular Biology and Classical Languages. Elbert pursued further education at Princeton University from 1997 to 2005, completing a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Molecular Biology. Finally, from 2010 to 2014, they attended Suffolk University Law School, where they obtained a Doctor of Law (J.D.) degree.
