Ryan Murphy

Vice President - Exploration at Beacon Offshore Energy

Ryan Murphy has had an extensive career in the energy industry. Ryan is currently working as the Vice President of Exploration at Beacon Offshore Energy since August 2019. Prior to that, they served as the President of Wingspan Petro Consulting, LLC starting from February 2019. Ryan has also held the position of Vice President of Exploitation and Exploration at Cox Oil, LLC from October to December 2018 and at Energy XXI from April to October 2018.

Before their time at Cox Oil and Energy XXI, Ryan worked at Cobalt International Energy for several years. At Cobalt, they held various roles including Subsurface Manager for the North Platte Development in the US Gulf of Mexico from April 2016 to April 2018, Angola Transition Project Discipline Lead from September 2015 to August 2016, Appraisal Manager for Gulf of Mexico and West Africa from November 2014 to September 2015, Exploration Manager for West Africa Well Execution from March 2013 to November 2014, and Senior Exploration Geologist for West Africa from April 2012 to March 2013.

Prior to their time at Cobalt, Ryan worked at Hess Corporation as a Senior Geologist. Ryan served as a Senior Geologist for the Stampede Development project in the US Gulf of Mexico from March 2011 to March 2012, and for Gulf of Mexico Miocene Exploration from August 2006 to April 2011.

Ryan's career began at ExxonMobil Exploration Company, where they worked as a Geologist. Ryan was part of the Gulf of Guinea Regional Team from November 2005 to August 2006, and worked on Hydrocarbon Systems Resources from March 2005 to October 2005. Ryan also worked at ExxonMobil Production Company as a Geologist for the South Texas Deep Development project from July 2004 to February 2005.

Before joining the energy industry, Ryan gained experience as a Graduate Research Assistant at the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology from August 2001 to June 2004. Ryan also worked as a Technical Expert at the University of Arizona's Department of Mining and Geological Engineering from June 2000 to July 2001.

Ryan Murphy attended Western Colorado University from 1996 to 2000, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Geology. Ryan then pursued further education at the University of Nevada, Reno from 2001 to 2004, earning a Master of Science degree in Geology.
