Rafael Meza is a distinguished senior scientist at BC Cancer since September 2022, specializing in cancer research. Previously, Rafael co-led the Cancer Control and Population Sciences and the Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Program at the University of Michigan Rogel Cancer Center from August 2016 to September 2022. During a long tenure at the University of Michigan from September 2011 to September 2022, Rafael progressed from assistant professor to professor in the Department of Epidemiology. Prior experience includes serving as a research scientist at the University of British Columbia Centre for Disease Control and as a postdoctoral fellow at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Rafael began a career in health research as a risk analyst at CONSAR and holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Washington and a B.Sc. in Applied Mathematics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México.
