Matthew Brooks is an accomplished professional in the media and entertainment technology sector, currently serving as the Head of Flexible Media at BBC since September 2011, where previous roles included Lead Research & Development Engineer and Senior Research & Development Engineer. Prior to joining BBC, Matthew held the position of Technical Director at Sony Computer Entertainment Europe from January 2004 to August 2011, focusing on engine architecture for next-generation titles and developing a compile and runtime component system in C++. Earlier in Matthew's career, from July 2000 to November 2003, a role as Senior Programmer at Genepool Software involved cross-platform special effect design and audio system implementation. Matthew holds a B.Sc Hons and M.Sc in Computer Science from The University of Manchester, earned between 1990 and 1994.
