Lydell Lettsome has a diverse work experience in various healthcare and leadership roles. Currently, Lettsome serves as the Medical Director of Wound Care at Bayhealth since April 2022. Prior to this, Lettsome founded the Vanbert Health Equity Project in March 2021 and continues to hold this position. Lettsome has previous experience as a Surgeon at TriState Bariatrics from June 2016 to April 2021 and as an Attending Surgeon at Crystal Run Healthcare from September 2012 to June 2016. Additionally, Lettsome has served as the Minister of Children & Youth at Convent Avenue Baptist Church from 2008 to 2014 and as the Physician-in-Charge of Ambulatory Services at Interfaith Medical Center from 2009 to 2011.
Lydell Lettsome earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Psychology, Pre-Med from Columbia University in 1992. Lydell then went on to attend Thomas Jefferson University from 1992 to 1996, where they obtained a Doctor of Medicine (M.D.) degree. In terms of additional certifications, Lydell obtained a Biomedical Responsible Conduct of Research certification from the CITI Program in February 2023. Lydell also obtained a certification in Wound Care (NAWCCB- Wound Care Certified #210195969) from the National Alliance of Wound Care & Ostomy in January 2021, and they are a Board Certified Surgeon since December 2015. Lydell Lettsome holds a New York Medical License from the New York State Education Department since March 1999.
