Daniel Salkeld

Scientific Advisor at Bay Area Lyme Foundation

Dr. Salkeld is a Research Scientist in the Department of Biology at Colorado State University. His research focuses on wildlife disease, public health and conservation, using approaches from ecology and epidemiology. Dr. Salkeld studies the ecology and epidemiology of zoonoses – pathogens that are transmitted from animals to humans. He has worked extensively on California tick-borne diseases, describing reservoir host dynamics, pathogen prevalence in tick populations, and patterns of human exposure to tick-bites. Dr. Salkeld was a co-author, with Nate Nieto, of the highly publicized Bay Area Tick Study, documenting Borrelia bacteria prevalence in the greater Bay Area.
