Mike Jansen, PE has extensive work experience in various roles within the engineering field. Mike began their career at Jansen Marine Services as a Mechanical Specialist from 1996 to 2005. Mike then joined Schilling Robotics, where they held positions as a Manufacturing Engineer, R&D Engineer, and Lead Integration Technician from 2006 to 2008. After that, they worked at the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors as a Lab Engineer, managing equipment upgrades and maintenance, and performing pressure relief device testing and certification from 2009 to 2010. Mike later joined NexTech Materials, Ltd. as a Mechanical Engineer from 2010 to 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as a Senior Lab Engineer at the National Board of Boiler & Pressure Vessel Inspectors, where they modernized the test lab and implemented state-of-the-art flow measurement equipment. Currently, they are at Battelle, where they have held various roles, including Research Scientist in Maritime Systems from 2012 to 2014, Research Scientist in Tactical Equipment/Unmanned Systems from 2014 to 2019, Principal Research Scientist in Advanced Mission Solutions from 2019 to 2020, and currently serves as the Lead Mechanical Engineer in Advanced Mission Solutions.
Mike Jansen, PE received their Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California State University-Sacramento from 2006 to 2008. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy from UC Santa Barbara from 1999 to 2005. Additionally, they obtained their Professional Engineer certification from the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors in 2016.
