Kathryn McCarthy

Associate Designer at Basic Resources, Inc.

Kathryn McCarthy has worked in the fashion industry since 2014. Kathryn started as a Resident Assistant at Stephens College, where they mentored 30-36 residents and was responsible for their health and wellness. Kathryn also participated in weekly meetings with Residence Life staff to organize events and maintain the dorms. In 2015, they became the Lead Graphic Designer for Stephens Life Magazine, managing a team of four graphic designers and designing promotional posters and layouts for the print magazine. In 2016, they interned at Next Level Programs LLC. as a Fashion Design/Tech Design Intern and was responsible for designing The New Standard Edition's Spring 2017 collection. That same year, they also worked at Creative Ink as a Creative Executive. In 2018, they worked at Parsons-Meares, LTD. as a First Hand and at prAna Living as a Color Specialist. In 2019, they joined Basic Resources, Inc. as an Associate Designer, where they worked on the Tommy Hilfiger and Van Heusen teams. Later that year, they rejoined the Van Heusen team. In 2020, they founded The Midnight Wren, a hand embroidery design business that sells DIY embroidery patterns.

Kathryn McCarthy attended Stephens College from 2013 to 2017, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in Fashion Design and Product Development.
