Ian Johnston has a diverse work experience spanning over several roles and companies. Ian'smost recent role, starting in April 2019, is as the Chief Innovation Officer at BarVision, where they continue to work. In the same year, they also founded their own company, iryx, where they serve as the CEO, CTO, and Founder.

From April to December 2019, Ian worked as the CTO at Cognize Inc. Prior to that, they held the position of Vice President of Engineering at FLIR Systems from June 2016 to April 2019.

Ian's earlier experience includes being the CEO of Innovative Security Designs (ISD) from September 2011 to June 2016. Ian also served as the CTO of Digital Watchdog CCTV from February 2014 to May 2016.

Before that, Ian worked at IQinVision as the VP of Engineering and CTO from August 2006 to August 2011. Ian was a Software Manager at EFI from 2004 to 2006, and held the same position at Vutek and Inkware/Vutek from 1996 to 2006.

Overall, Ian has a strong background in leadership and innovation, particularly in the fields of engineering, technology, and security.

Ian Johnston attended Rockway from 1986 to 1990. Later, they studied Honours Physics at the University of Waterloo from 1991 to 1994.
