Ian Gale has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in the food industry. Ian is currently serving as the Head of Quality UK & IRL at Barry Callebaut Group since January 2023. Prior to this, Ian worked as the Head of Technical at Mindful Chef from August 2021 to October 2022.
Ian's longest tenure was at Bakkavor, where they held multiple positions. From July 2016 to May 2020, they served as the Head of Technical, responsible for strengthening technical leadership, driving improvements, and providing strategic direction across five manufacturing facilities. Before that, from March 2015 to July 2016, they worked as the Group Technical Manager, overseeing internal standards and driving improvement through audits and codes of practice implementation.
Ian also worked as the Group Customer Technical Manager at First Milk Ltd from February 2013 to February 2015, managing customer relations, food safety, compliance, and supplier assurance for the group. Ian started their career at VION Food, where they served as the Senior Technical Manager from October 2011 to January 2013, and as the Group NPD Manager from June 2010 to October 2011.
Throughout their career, Ian has demonstrated expertise in quality management, technical leadership, customer relations, and driving improvements in the food industry.
Ian Gale has a BSC in food science from Lancaster University. Ian also has additional certifications in Advanced Food Hygiene from CIEH/RIPHH (obtained in 2008) and Advanced HACCP from Campden BRI (obtained in 2001).
