Gary Parsons is a seasoned process engineer with extensive experience in the oil sands industry. At Suncor from July 2012 to January 2021, Gary served as Senior Process Engineer leading the engineering efforts for the Fort Hills mine projects and the Non-Production Assets group during commissioning and operation phases, while also providing critical process engineering support. As Lead of Process Engineering Services, Gary directed a team focused on energy demand forecasting and emissions reporting. Additionally, Gary held the position of Development Lead, working on strategies for sustainable bitumen production post-exhaustion of existing mine resources, managing capital estimates exceeding $10 billion. Prior experience at Shell involved leading development projects with a combined capital estimate over $1 billion, and earlier roles at Suncor included operations engineering where project scopes for tailings pipeline projects were developed. Gary holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Chemical Engineering from Dalhousie University.
