Karen Hessing has a diverse work experience in the field of design. Karen started their career in 2017 as a Design Research Assistant for Professor Marty Maxwell Lane at the University of Arkansas, where they played a key role in creating an updated visual language for design artifacts. From 2018 to 2019, Karen worked as a self-employed designer, collaborating with clients on various projects such as t-shirt design, logo and identity design, and print collateral redesign. In 2019, they became a Design Fellow at Circa Design, where they worked on a variety of print and digital projects, providing assistance to senior designers. From 2020 to 2022, Karen worked as an Art Director at BLKBOX, where they developed social media collateral, websites, and various types of printed collateral. Currently, they hold the position of Senior Designer at Barkley since 2022. Karen has proven their ability to work on and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines throughout their career.
