Hakim Jaafar is a Senior Analyst at the Bank of England since 2023, following a role as Research Lead for Emergent Money Systems at the Cambridge Centre for Alternative Finance, Cambridge Judge Business School from 2022 to 2023. Previously, Hakim served at Bank Negara Malaysia from 2014 to 2022, where responsibilities included establishing the Digital Currency Research Hub and acting as a foreign policy strategist as the lead analyst for the ASEAN Team. Early experience at Bank Negara also involved dual expertise in large value and retail payment systems. Hakim holds a Bachelor's degree in Economics from the University of Warwick, earned between 2011 and 2014, and completed A-Levels at Kolej Yayasan UEM.
