Mr. Eddie Tyler is the Superintendent of Baldwin County Public Schools. Mr. Tyler was appointed superintendent September 17, 2015. Mr. Tyler is a veteran of Baldwin County Public Schools, having served 25 years in our school system before he became superintendent of Eufaula City School System February 2012.
Mr. Tyler began his 46th consecutive year in education on July 1, 2021 and began his seventh year as Superintendent for Baldwin County Public Schools. Mr. Tyler's career started in Monroeville, Alabama, where he spent his first seven years in education.
In fall 1983, he began teaching in his hometown of Mobile, Alabama, for four years. In 1987, he began teaching in the Baldwin County School System and remained with Baldwin County for 25 years until he moved to Eufaula, Alabama.
In his tenure as an educator, Mr. Tyler has served as a teacher, bus driver, assistant coach, athletic director, head football, baseball, soccer, tennis and track coach. Mr. Tyler has also served as an assistant principal for seven years, a high school principal for five and for four years, prior to Eufaula, as Assistant Superintendent of the Baldwin County School System.
Mr. Tyler earned his high school diploma in 1970 from Murphy High School in Mobile, Alabama, then an undergraduate degree in 1976 from the University of South Alabama and a master in education and administrative certification from the University of West Alabama in 1998.
Mr. Tyler is a 2011 graduate of the University of Alabama Superintendent’s Academy. Additionally, he is a member of School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) and the Council for Leaders in Alabama Schools (CLAS).
One of six children, Mr. Tyler describes himself as a blue collar worker in a white collar position. He credits his parents for a strong work ethic and sound moral principles. Mr. Tyler has three children, Chase, Abby and the late Forrest. He enjoys spending time with family, exercising and working in his yard.
