Karen Lockman Apter

Karen Lockman Apter has a diverse work experience spanning various roles and responsibilities. Karen started their career at the Office of Governor Jennifer Granholm in 2002, where they were part of the Campaign Policy Team/Appointments Division. Their responsibilities included developing policy abstracts, communicating positions to constituents, and assisting in the vetting process for administration appointees.

In 2006, Karen joined Jenner & Block as a Marketing, Business Development & Editorial Specialist. Karen played a crucial role in creating and providing editorial advice for business development materials, drafting articles and press releases, and analyzing market/industry trends.

Since 2010, Karen has been working at Baker McKenzie, where they have held several roles. Karen initially served as Manager, Business Development, leading the business development and marketing strategy for a regional practice group. Karen then moved on to become Director, Practice Management, overseeing strategic direction, client development, practice management, and communications for the North America International Commercial Practice Group. In their most recent role as Global Strategic Project Lead, Inclusion, Equity & Diversity, Karen collaborated with cross-functional teams to achieve aggressive business growth goals.

Throughout their career, Karen has demonstrated their expertise in strategic planning, client development, communications, and leadership.

Karen Lockman Apter earned a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Michigan Law School in 2005. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree with Honors at Washington University in St. Louis between 1998 and 2002. Karen Lockman Apter is also certified as an Illinois Bar member.
