Derek Y. has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles throughout their career. Derek began as a Project Manager and Developer at SpeechWorks, where they worked on speech recognition applications for United Airlines and Continental Airlines. Derek also managed customer expectations and schedules while developing call flow and reporting scripts. Derek then transitioned into a managerial role as the Manager of Technical Support, overseeing the SpeechWorks/Scansoft Technical SDK support team.

Moving forward, Derek joined Groove Mobile as the Manager of Customer Deployments. There, they led an integration team responsible for delivering full track music to companies such as Sprint, Hutchinson 3G, and Orange. Their team focused on project management, UI development, custom feature development, and custom backend integration.

In 2008, Derek took on the role of Technical Program Manager at CourseAdvisor. Derek developed software using Ruby on Rails while simultaneously managing a team of remote developers. Responsibilities included ensuring the production of quality software on time and making hiring and firing decisions.

Prior to that, Derek worked as the Director of Software Development at Avenue 100 Media Solutions. Derek led a team of 14 developers and was responsible for developing multiple websites, services, and APIs using Ruby on Rails. Additionally, they authored design specifications for large features, performed code reviews, deployed releases, and managed the build and release management code.

Derek then became the Vice President of Engineering at Nanigans, where they played a crucial role in solving initial technical and organizational challenges. Derek was actively involved in product development, from ideation to implementation. Derek specialized in distilling ideas into early working products and transforming them into a fully functional reality.

Continuing their career, Derek joined Zmags as the Chief Technology Officer. In this role, they replaced the existing engineering team with a new team based in Boston across multiple disciplines. Derek installed a new engineering process and established a startup mindset. Derek worked closely with the team to evolve and transform the product, Creator by Zmags.

Most recently, Derek joined Plannuh, Inc. as a Technical Advisor. Derek provides expertise and guidance in technology-related matters to assist in strategic decision-making.

Currently, Derek holds the position of Chief Technology Officer at Bainbridge, where they serve as the technological leader for the company.

Derek Y. has a proven track record of successfully leading teams, driving technological innovation, and contributing to the growth and development of various organizations throughout their career.

Derek Y. obtained a Bachelor's Degree from Tufts University in 1996 and completed a Master's Degree from the same institution between 1996 and 1998. The field of study for both degrees is unknown. Subsequently, they pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from UMass Boston, enrolling from 1999 to 2005.
