Tom Zhai has a diverse work experience in finance and accounting roles. Tom started their career in 1995 as a Financial Accountant at Nanjing Jinwa Group and worked there until 1999. Tom then worked at Snell Packaging as an IT Support & Purchasing Officer from 2001 to 2004. Tom joined Capon and Madden Chartered Accountants in 2004 and worked as part of their Accounting Advisory Services team until 2008. From 2008 to 2010, they were a Finance Manager at Nemak Nanjing Aluminum Foundry Co., Ltd. Most recently, Tom worked at Baerlocher China, where they held the positions of Finance Controller from 2010 to 2015 and Finance Director from 2016.

Tom Zhai has a diverse education history. Tom started their education in 1993 at Jinling Polytechnic Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Finance Accounting in 1995. In 2000, they enrolled at Lincoln University (NZ) and completed a Graduate Diploma in Accounting and Finance and Accounting.

Tom's pursuit of education continued in 2002 when they became a provisional member of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand. Tom further expanded their knowledge in accounting by completing a Master's degree in Accounting at Lincoln University (NZ) from 2003 to 2005.

In 2007, Tom obtained a Graduate Diploma in Software & Information Technology from Lincoln University (NZ). The same year, they became a member of The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), specializing in Professional Accountants. Their journey in the field of accounting also led him to The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, where they acquired the designation of CIMA FCMA CGMA in Management Accounting in 2016.

Along with their extensive education, Tom Zhai has earned additional certifications. In November 2016, they obtained the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) certification from CGMA, and they also received the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) certification in the same month and year.
