John Hughes has extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical industry. John currently holds the position of Vice President of Manufacturing at Azurity Pharmaceuticals since 2021. Prior to that, they served as Vice President of Manufacturing at T2 Biosystems from 2015 to 2019. John also held various roles at Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), including Head of Core Functions and Head of Pilot Production Companion Diagnostics. John Hughes has also worked at Caris Life Sciences, Life Technologies, Invitrogen, Inc, SYNTEX Pharmaceuticals, and the Laboratory of C.S. McHenry, where they served in scientific and managerial positions. Overall, they have a strong background in manufacturing, process development, continuous improvement, and research and development in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors.
John Hughes received their Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from East Carolina University in an unspecified year. John then pursued further education and earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Brigham Young University between 1982 and 1987. Following this, they attended the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus from 1987 to 1990 as a Postdoctoral Fellow, where they focused on a National Institutes of Health fellowship.
