Graeme Mathie has a diverse work experience in the football industry. Graeme is currently the Managing Director of Ayr United Football Club as of December 2021. Prior to that, they served as the Sporting Director of Hibernian Football Club from January 2020 to December 2021. From August 2014 to January 2020, they held the position of Head of Player Identification & Recruitment at Hibernian FC (unofficial). Before that, they worked as the Club Development Manager in the South West Region at the Scottish Football Association from February 2012 to August 2014. Additionally, Graeme has had previous experience with Celtic Football Club, where they served as a Scouting Analyst from March 2008 to February 2012. Graeme also held roles such as Community Development Manager and Youth Academy Coach during their time at Celtic. Prior to their career in football management, Graeme Mathie was a professional football player at various clubs from June 1999 to February 2007.

Graeme Mathie attended Marr College in Troon from 1994 to 1999. During this time, they studied English, Computing Studies, Physics, and Religious Studies. It is not mentioned whether they obtained a degree.
