Mokena Makeka is a prominent figure in architecture and social innovation, currently serving as the Special Advisor to the Vice President of Academic Affairs at The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. In addition, Mokena is a Partner at Axum and the Founder Director of the School for Explorative Architecture, the first independent School of Architecture in South Africa. Previous roles include Principal and Office Director for Dalberg Advisors' Southern African office, board member of the National Creative Industries Federation, and Owner & Creative Director at Makeka Design Lab. Educational background includes a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Cape Town and Executive Education at Harvard Business School. Mokena has also held significant leadership roles, such as Chairman of the Board at Isandla Institute and founder and Trustee of the Museum of Design Innovation Leadership and Art.
