Shafaq Patel is an accomplished journalist currently serving as a Houston reporter for Axios since July 2022, where co-authored Axios Houston, focusing on various aspects of the greater Houston area. Previously, Patel worked for American City Business Journals from May 2020 to July 2022, fulfilling multiple roles including Economic Development, Education, and DEI Reporter, as well as National Diversity Business Reporter, covering the intersection of race and business. Additional experience includes reporting for the Boston Globe Media, serving as an MIT News Writing Fellow, and participating in various internships, contributing to publications such as DigBoston and Muckrock. Patel earned a Bachelor of Science in Journalism from Emerson College and has held editorial roles, including Editor-in-Chief at The Berkeley Beacon.
