Ioannis Koltsidas has been working in the software engineering and research industry since 2005. In 2005, they were a Research Associate at OTE, where they were involved in evaluation, testing and deploying IPTV solutions for a nationwide IPTV pilot project. From 2006 to 2009, they were a PhD Student at the University of Edinburgh. In 2008 and 2009, they worked as a Research Intern at IBM's Almaden Research Center, where they designed and developed FailMon and explored different design decisions involved in the development of a low-latency, high-throughput web-scale filesystem. From 2010 to 2018, they were a Research Staff and Technical Lead at IBM, where they led research teams that worked on novel data storage and analytics technologies. From 2018 to 2021, they were a Tech Lead and Senior Software Engineer at Google. Currently, they are the Director of Software Engineering and Co-founder at Axelera AI.
Ioannis Koltsidas completed their PhD in Computer Science from The University of Edinburgh between 2006 and 2010. Prior to that, they obtained a Diploma of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens between 2001 and 2006.
