Jim Morrison

Chief Risk Officer at Avolon

Jim Morrison has a diverse work experience in the aviation industry. Jim is currently employed at Avolon as the Chief Risk Officer, a role they started in October 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at Avolon, including Head of Portfolio Management from December 2020 to October 2022, Senior Vice President of Aircraft and Market Analysis from February 2020 to December 2020, and Vice President of Aircraft Evaluation from April 2017 to February 2020. Before joining Avolon, Jim worked at CIT as an Assistant Vice President of Aircraft Evaluation from September 2015 to April 2017. Jim also has experience working at Bombardier Aerospace, where they served as Manager of Strategy and International Business Development from September 2013 to August 2015, and as an Airline Marketing Manager from August 2011 to August 2013. Additionally, Jim has research experience as a Research Assistant at MIT International Center for Air Transportation (ICAT) from September 2009 to June 2011. Jim began their career as a Volunteer at Camp Oochigeas from July 2007 to August 2009, and as a Product Support Analyst at Applanix Corporation from October 2006 to June 2009. Jim's leadership skills were demonstrated during their time as President of the Engineering Society of Queen's University from February 2004 to March 2005.

Jim Morrison completed their education at two institutions. From 2001 to 2006, they attended Queen's University, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Physics with a Mechanical Option. Following this, from 2009 to 2011, they enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they completed the Technology and Policy Program (TPP) and earned a Master's degree in Technology. Additionally, in November 2011, they obtained the professional certification of P.Eng from Professional Engineers Ontario. In May 2019, they also became an ISTAT Certified Appraiser through the International Society of Transport Aircraft Trading (ISTAT).
