Usue Etxaniz has a strong background in biomedical research. Usue began their career as a PhD student at I.I.S. Biodonostia from February 2010 to December 2014. Following that, they joined the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute as a Postdoctoral fellow and worked there from January 2015 to September 2019. Etxaniz then transitioned to Avidity Biosciences, Inc., where they held the position of Scientist from September 2019 to December 2021 and currently serves as a Senior Scientist from January 2022.

Usue Etxaniz completed their education in the field of Molecular Biology and Biomedicine. Usue earned a Licenciatura degree in Biotecnología y Gestión de empresas biotecnológicas from Universidad Francisco de Vitoria, which they attended from 2004 to 2009. Following their undergraduate studies, they pursued further education at Universidad del País Vasco/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea. Usue obtained a Master's degree in Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from 2009 to 2010, and later completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in the same field from 2010 to 2014.
