Carla Pugliese is an experienced professional with a range of experience in program management, learning and development, research, teaching, and curatorial work. In 2022, they began working as a Program Manager at Avela. Prior to that, they were a Learning & Development Specialist and Senior Facilitator at Taproot Ventures, where they created and implemented professional development curricula for nonprofit organizations and for-profit companies. Carla also co-created the Cultural Health Index (CHI). From 2018 to 2021, they worked as a Principal, Researcher, and Teacher at Large at Carla Pugliese | Community Catalyst. In 2021, they began working as a Pilot Project Director at Cultural Alliance of Maine. From 2013 to 2021, they worked at The Nueva School, where they held the positions of Middle School Assistant Division Head, 7th Grade Dean, and Humanities Teacher and Student Advisor. From 2013 to 2018, they worked as a Yoga and Writing Teacher at The Art of Yoga Project. From 2008 to 2013, they worked as a History, English, and Journalism Teacher at Menlo School. In 2008, they worked as a Curatorial Intern at Yosemite National Park's Museum and Archives. In 2007, they worked as a Curatorial Intern at Yellowstone National Park's Heritage and Research Center.
Carla Pugliese has a varied education history. Carla obtained a Bachelor of Arts in History and Creative Writing from Stanford University in 2008. In 2012, they received a RYT-200 certification from Yoga Tree San Francisco in Hatha Vinyasa Yoga. This certification was recognized by the Yoga Alliance in February 2013. In 2017, they completed a Master of Arts in Independent School Leadership from Teachers College, Columbia University.
