Jing Zhang has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. From 1998 to 2002, they worked at Read Rite as a Sr Principal Engineer and Engineering Manager, where they were responsible for designing and characterizing advanced HDD recording heads and coordinating with teams for design planning and yield ramp. From 2002 to 2003, they worked at IBM as a Sr Engineer/Scientist. Jing then joined HGST, a Western Digital brand, in 2003 as a Sr Engineering Manager, where they led the Advanced Recording Head Design team. In this role, they were responsible for magnetic recording head design and technology pathfinding for next-generation HDD products. Jing also collaborated with the process team for module process development and technology transfer to manufacturing. Most recently, Jing Zhang has been working at Avalanche Technology Inc. since 2011 as the Sr Director of Product Development.

Jing Zhang has a strong educational background in the field of engineering and physics. Jing obtained their Bachelor's degree in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University in 1991. Following that, they pursued a Master of Science degree in Physics at Rutgers University, which they completed in 1993. Jing Zhang furthered their education by completing a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in 1998.
