Shakira Johnson is a Biosecurity Coordinator at AUSVEG since July 2018, with a comprehensive background in project coordination, engagement, and adoption within biosecurity initiatives. Previously, Shakira served as a PhD student and a practical lab demonstrator at La Trobe University from March 2013 to July 2018, where responsibilities included teaching plant physiology, nutrition, and the molecular aspects of plant science. Shakira also held the position of Casual Lecturer, presenting the 'Introduction to Plant Pathology' course to second-year students. In 2017, Shakira worked with the Australian Government Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, focusing on communication strategies for the import of plant research materials. Shakira holds a Bachelor of Science (with Honours) in Biochemistry and Molecular Plant Pathology from La Trobe University, completed in 2012.
