Sibongiseni Ngoma is the current Chief Financial Officer at Auditor-General of South Africa. Prior to this role, they were the Head of Internal Audit at Industrial Development Corporation of SA Ltd. (IDC) from January 2000 to December 2012. Ngoma has also worked as a Training and articled clerk at Ernest and Young from January 1997 to January 2000.
Ngoma is responsible for developing the Internal Audit Strategy, overseeing and implementing the strategy, and preparing a risk-based three year audit plan. Sibongiseni is also responsible for ensuring the approval of the plan by the Board Audit Committee (BAC), championing best practice in governance, and objectively assessing the adequacy of governance and management of existing risks. In addition, Ngoma is responsible for commenting on responses to emerging risks and proposed developments, giving objective and evidence-based opinions on all aspects of governance, risk management and internal controls, and liaison with the Chairman of Board Audit Committee.
As Chief Financial Officer, Ngoma is also responsible for presenting audit findings to Management and to the BAC, providing consulting services to Management, monitoring implementation of King III by the organization, monitoring and ensure compliance of the key acts, and participating in the development of the organization's strategy. Sibongiseni is also a steering committee member of the Fraud Prevention and the Assets and Liabilities Committee.
Sibongiseni Ngoma's educational career began at Daliwonga High School where they obtained their high school diploma. Sibongiseni then went on to study at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, where they obtained their Bachelor of Commerce degree.
Sibongiseni Ngoma reports to Thembekile Kimi Makwetu, Auditor-General. Sibongiseni Ngoma works with Solomon Segooa - Audit Corporate Executive, Vanuja Maharaj - Audit Corporate Executive, and Mlungisi Mabaso - Chief People Officer.
