Akhter Hassan has a diverse work experience. From 2017 to present, they have been an Account Manager at Aucto. From 2014 to 2017, they were a Physical Security Analyst at the Ministry of Finance (Ontario Public Service), where they conducted risk assessment based on data from police and internal security records and tested, maintained and updated emergency operation equipment and resources. Akhter was also an Emergency Management Assistant at the Ministry of Economic Development, Trade and Employment (Ontario Public Service) from 2014 to 2017, where they developed a comprehensive physical security program, reviewed and updated the MEDTE/MRI and Ministry of Consumer Services' business continuity plans. Prior to that, from 2013 to 2014, they were an Emergency Management Assistant at the City of Brampton, where they built partnerships with the City of Brampton's emergency response agencies and created a quick reference guide detailing each emergency response agency's resources, organizational charts, responsibilities and contact information.

Akhter Hassan has an education history that includes a MA in Disaster and Emergency Management from York University, obtained between 2011 and 2013, and a BA in Criminology from York University, obtained between 2005 and 2009.
