Sam Thorne learned to program by accident while working in an accounting office. They were using recorded Excel macros to increase efficiency and, as the resident Excel expert, Sam was asked to investigate problems with the macros. Turns out, they could be written from scratch in Visual Basic for Applications. Sam was hooked and, all of a sudden, he was a programmer in an accounting office.
After completing a programming boot camp, Sam knew he needed to learn more. At the start of the pandemic, he found himself taking classes at Washtenaw Community College before progressing to Eastern Michigan University. Sam leads tutoring groups and summer camps and during his senior year, he worked as a teacher’s assistant. It has been an incredible journey that has now led him to Atomic Object.
Sam has been able to extend a passion for hand-crafted items to a passion for hand-crafted software. He's thrilled to be able to share in the creativity and dedication of his fellow workers at Atomic Object.
