Rachel Garbus is an accomplished Deputy Editor and Contributing Writer at Atlanta Magazine since January 2022. As a Co-Founder of the Atlanta LGBTQ+ History Project, Rachel leads efforts to gather and preserve the stories of Atlanta's LGBTQ+ communities through multimedia initiatives. Rachel has worked as a Freelance Copywriter since 2015, producing a wide range of written content, and contributes regularly to AWF Magazine and Wussy Mag, focusing on satire and cultural criticism respectively. Additionally, Rachel has a background in arts education, having served as an Artist in Residence at the Brooklyn Arts Council and as a Teaching Artist at various organizations, developing curricula that fuse art and social justice. Rachel holds a degree in Government from Smith College and has pursued further education at international institutions.
