Michael Leitschkis has extensive work experience in the insurance and actuarial field. Michael currently holds the position of Group Chief Actuary at Athora starting in 2022. Prior to this, they worked at Milliman from 2012 to 2022, where they served as the Principal Life Technology Solutions and Practice Leader Düsseldorf Life. At Milliman, their responsibilities included capital modelling, solvency monitoring, actuarial systems transformation, risk modeling solutions for life insurance, and internal models for Solvency II.
Before joining Milliman, Michael worked at Generali Deutschland Holding AG (GE1) from 2007 to 2011 as the Head of Modelling, where they implemented and developed models for life and health insurance. Michael also played a role in introducing common modeling standards and innovative solutions across all business units. Prior to that, they worked at B&W Deloitte as a Manager from 2003 to 2007, specializing in risk modeling for life insurance, reviewing EEV and MCEV, and conducting trainings and workshops for clients. Overall, Michael has demonstrated expertise in various aspects of actuarial work and has held significant leadership positions in the industry.
Michael Leitschkis earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Mathematik from the University of Cologne, completing their studies from 1999 to 2003. Prior to that, they obtained a Diplom degree in Mathematik from the same university, attending from 1994 to 1999. In addition to their academic achievements, they also obtained the Aktuar DAV certification from the Deutsche Aktuarvereinigung e.V. in March 2006.
