Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud

COO and Co-Founder at Astute Imaging

Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud has a wealth of experience in the fields of biomedical engineering, medical imaging, and medical device development. Ahmed began their career in 2003 as a Teaching Assistant at Cairo University. From 2006 to 2008, they were a Postdoctoral Fellow and Graduate Research Assistant at West Virginia University, where they designed and conducted experiments in the Ultrasonics laboratory. In 2008, they were a CDC Regular Fellow at the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH), CDC, where they developed and tested prototypes for new medical devices. From 2011 to 2014, they were a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine-University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where they investigated the feasibility of detecting lipid-rich atherosclerotic plaque and fatty livers using ultrasound thermal strain imaging. From 2014 to 2016, they were the Lead Consultant at the Center for Advanced Software and Biomedical Engineering Consultations. From 2014 to 2019, they were the Director of Medical Equipment Calibration Lab. (MECL)- Faculty of Engineering, where they led the lab to provide high quality calibration services. From 2016 to 2019, they were the Consultant and Scientific Advisor at DilenyTech, a leading startup company that develops medical imaging solutions. In 2019, they founded and became the Director of Innovation at DilenyTech. Finally, in 2022, they became the COO and Co-Founder of Astute Imaging.

Ahmed Ehab Mahmoud has a long history of education. Ahmed started their studies in 1998, when they earned a BS.C. in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University. Between 2003 and 2006, they then earned an MS.C. in Biomedical Engineering from the same university. Finally, they completed their education in 2009, when they earned a PhD in Biomedical Ultrasound Signal/Image Processing, and R&D from West Virginia University.
