Nathan Thompson is the co-founder and CEO of Assessment Systems. Nathan has over fifteen years of experience in the field of psychometrics and assessment, including working as a psychometrician, test development manager, and test scorer/item writer.
Thompson started their career in 2001 as a test scorer and item writer for Data Recognition Corporation. In 2005, they became the Test Development Manager for the Joint Commission on Allied Health Personnel in Ophthalmology, where they were responsible for managing the development and maintenance of three NCCA-accredited certification exams.
In 2006, Thompson left the Joint Commission to work as a Psychometrician for Thomson Prometric. Nathan provided psychometric expertise for a number of clients, mostly professional associations and state-based licensure exams. Their tasks included classical test theory analysis, item response theory analysis, equating, automated test assembly for parallel forms, and standard setting. Nathan also participated in the development of several custom software tools, including a VBA program in Excel to score complex innovative items.
In 2008, Thompson left Thomson Prometric to co-found Assessment Systems. Assessment Systems is a full-service assessment company that provides services to clients in the healthcare, higher education, and corporate sectors.
Nathan Thompson holds a Ph.D. in Psychometrics from the University of Minnesota and a BA in Mathematics, Psychology, and Latin from Luther College. Nathan is also certified as a Social Media Strategist from the National Institute for Social Media.
