Benjamin Basanta

Scientist II - Computational protein design at Arzeda

Benjamin Basanta has worked in the field of protein design for over a decade. Benjamin began their career as an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Universidad de Buenos Aires in 2009, followed by a position as a Janelia Undergraduate Summer Scholar at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute in 2010. In 2013, they began their PhD studies at the University of Washington, where they also served as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Buenos Aires. From 2019 to 2020, they worked as a Senior Fellow at the Institute for Protein Design at the University of Washington, where they worked to improve the methods for design of proteins with pockets. Benjamin then moved on to Scripps Research, where they worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow (Hewitt Fellow). In 2022, they began working as a Scientist II - Computational Protein Design at Arzeda.

Benjamin Basanta received their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry from the University of Washington in 2019. From 2006 to 2012, they earned their Licenciatura en Ciencias Biológicas in Biología Molecular y Biotecnología from the University of Buenos Aires. In 2018, they obtained certifications in Machine Learning and SQL for Data Science from Coursera.
