Susan Yi has a diverse work experience in the art industry. Susan is currently the Director of Operations at Artspace since April 2021. Prior to that, Susan worked as an Independent Art Advisor starting from December 2018, where they conducted research and facilitated art acquisitions for private clients. Susan also cultivated relationships with galleries, art organizations, and artists. From November 2019 to February 2021, Susan served as an Associate Director at GRIMM, where they managed clients, promoted gallery exhibitions, and developed online engagement strategies. Before that, they were the Director at Grice Bench from August 2015 to December 2018, handling management, sales, and promoting the organization's program and artists. Susan also worked as a Sales Assistant at L.A. Louver from August 2012 to July 2015. Susan'scareer in the art industry began at the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) as a Curatorial and Research Assistant from October 2009 to July 2012.
Susan Yi has a diverse education history beginning with their high school diploma in Visual Art from Orange County School of the Arts, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Following this, they pursued a Study Abroad Program focused on Art History and the French Language at The American University of Paris from 2004 to 2005. Susan then attended the University of California, Irvine Claire Trevor School of the Arts, where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Art History from 2005 to 2007. Lastly, they pursued a Master's degree in Modern and Contemporary Art History at Christie's Education from 2007 to 2008.
