Luis Solchaga

Head Of Manufacturing Sciences at Artiva Biotherapeutics

Luis Solchaga has a diverse and extensive work experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. Luis currently holds the position of Senior Director and Head of Manufacturing at Artiva Biotherapeutics since 2023. Prior to that, they worked as the Director of Manufacturing at Shoreline Biosciences, Inc. from 2021 to 2022.

Before their role at Shoreline Biosciences, Inc., Luis was employed at Fate Therapeutics Inc as the Director of Manufacturing from 2020 to 2021, and as the Associate Director of Manufacturing from 2019 to 2020. During their time at Fate Therapeutics, they played a significant role in managing manufacturing operations, overseeing the shipment of released products, and coordinating technology transfer activities.

Luis also worked as the Director of Manufacturing and Process Development at Capricor Therapeutics, Inc from 2018 to 2019. Their responsibilities included planning and managing manufacturing operations, ensuring compliance with cGMP, and identifying process improvements.

Prior to Capricor Therapeutics, Luis served as the Associate Director of Cell Processing Operations at Regenerex (currently Talaris Therapeutics) from 2015 to 2018. Luis was responsible for managing cell product manufacturing operations, developing a strong team for aseptic cell processing, and coordinating clinical manufacturing operations.

Before moving into the biotechnology industry, Luis worked as a Principal Scientist at Biomimetic Therapeutics from 2010 to 2015. During this time, they were involved in the development, management, and coordination of preclinical research projects.

Luis has also held various positions at academic institutions, including Case Western Reserve University and Universidad de Navarra. At Case Western Reserve University, they served as an Assistant Professor, Scientific Director of the Stem Cell Facility, and Research Scientist. At Universidad de Navarra, they worked as a PhD student and conducted research on cartilage repair and the application of external fixation devices.

Throughout their career, Luis Solchaga has demonstrated expertise in manufacturing operations, process development, and team management in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry.

Luis Solchaga completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of Navarra, from 1985 to 1990. Following that, they pursued a Ph.D. in Cell Biology at the same university, graduating in 1994.
