Karen Kaluza Smith's work experience began in 2004 as a Research Assistant at the University of Minnesota. In 2005, they worked as a Summer Undergraduate Research Fellow at Mayo Clinic. From 2006 to 2011, they were a Graduate Student at Mayo Clinic. In 2011, they joined the University of Pennsylvania as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Ovarian Cancer Research Center and later became a Center for Technology Transfer Fellow. In 2012, they started working at ArticulateScience as a Medical Writer and progressed to the role of Senior Medical Writer. From 2017 to 2019, they served as an Associate Scientific Director at ArticulateScience, and since 2019, they have been working as a Scientific Director at the same company.
Karen Kaluza Smith completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Biology, General at Luther College from 2002 to 2006. Karen then pursued further education at the Mayo Clinic Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences from 2006 to 2011, where they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biomedical Sciences with a specialization in Immunology.
