Caroline Shields

Curator, European Art at Art Gallery of Ontario

Caroline Shields currently serves as the Curator of European Art at the Art Gallery of Ontario, where significant accomplishments include curating the exhibition "Cassatt--McNicoll: Impressionists Between Worlds" and contributing to the associated catalogue. Previously, Caroline held positions such as Associate Curator and Assistant Curator, with notable exhibitions including "Impressionism in the Age of Industry." Caroline's academic experience includes roles as Adjunct Faculty at Lesley University, teaching Art of the Western World II, and a Graduate Dean's Dissertation Fellow at the University of Maryland. Caroline also has extensive internship experience at prestigious institutions such as the National Gallery of Art, Musee d'Orsay, and the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston. Caroline earned a Ph.D. in Art History focused on Nineteenth-century European Art from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Art History and Geology from Boston College.
