Julian Howison's education history begins in 1978 when they attended Bournemouth University, where they pursued a degree in Electrical & Electronics Engineering and graduated in 1982 with an HNC. Julian then went on to attend the Berklee College of Music from 1985 to 1986, where they engaged in private study focused on Jazz Saxophone. In 1987, Julian enrolled at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, where they specialized in Classical & Jazz for their Principal Study Saxophone degree until 1989. Continuing their musical education, they attended the Royal Northern College of Music from 1989 to 1991, focusing on Principal Study Saxophone and Second Studies in Flute, Clarinet, and Piano. Julian's academic journey concluded in 1994 when they joined the Guildhall School of Music & Drama once again, this time studying Jazz Saxophone with a degree in Jazz/Jazz Studies until 1995.
